Media Release │ MinterEllison a foundation member of startup community collaboration platform

MinterEllison has joined some of Australia's leading businesses, including Westpac, Woolworths, Australia Post, EnergyAustralia, and Lendlease, as a founding member of CoVentured, a new platform launched this week that connects corporate Australia with the growing community of startups.

CoVentured helps corporates actively identify, track, and engage with startups; it makes it easier to foster new engagements; and it breaks down barriers to collaboration, from pilots and proof of concepts to minority investments, co-creation and vendor relationships.

MinterEllison partner and Innovation Leader, Andrew Cunningham, said participation in CoVentured provides the firm with the opportunity not only to engage directly with start-ups as part of its innovation agenda but also to advise and guide emerging business and those investing in innovation.

"We're thrilled to be a founding member of CoVentured. At MinterEllison we're passionate about innovation and about providing the most innovative solutions to our clients. Working with the start-up community allows us to tap into exciting new ideas and potentially new solutions for our clients.

"It also allows us to share our technical expertise with emerging businesses and to support their growth through the lifecycle of their business. For those keen to partner and develop strategic alliances with or invest in startups and emerging high-growth companies, we can offer services through the lifetime of their investment – from initial stake to exit."

MinterEllison itself has an ambitious innovation agenda to support its direction and growth aspirations. The firm has expanded its service offering beyond traditional legal services into adjacent consulting services to meet clients need for seamless multi-disciplinary solutions. It is also winning acclaim for both its client facing and its internally focussed technological innovations.

Offerings such as its contract lawyers business, Flex, its Executive Remuneration Consulting service, MinterEllison Taskflow, a new generation technology-driven platform for matter management, and the firm's latest public cloud Client Data Management solution and associated customised TransferME application, are all part of the firm's broader agenda to innovate in the services it offers, in how it executes those services, and in how it prices those services.

"One of the exciting spin-off benefits of our involvement in CoVentured will be for our young lawyers, particularly in the insights they will gain from the start-up community and the opportunities for broader involvement with individual business from the earliest stages of their start-up ventures," Mr Cunningham said.
