Last night in Beijing, MinterEllison has won the Business Excellence Award for Professional Services at the 24th annual AusCham Westpac Australia-China Business Awards.

The AusCham Westpac Australia-China Business Awards are one of the most prestigious annual awards recognising the importance of the Australia-China relationship.

More than 500 guests, including the Australian Ambassador to China, Her Excellency Ms Jan Adams, attended the presentation ceremony.

The highly coveted Professional Services Award won by MinterEllison is given to the company that has demonstrated business excellence and commercial success in Greater China. This year, other finalists for this award included KPMG, Macquarie, Transtar International Freight and FCM Travel.

MinterEllison Chief Executive, Tony Harrington AM, said he was thrilled by the recognition given to the firm's Australia-China client work.

"The award is testament to our firm's long term commitment to the China market. We were one of the first Australian-headquartered international law firms to open offices in China more than 20 years ago and our commitment to the China market has been unwavering since that time.

"The Australia-China relationship is critically important for the on-going prosperity of both nations. We look forward to continuing to support our clients to achieve their objectives in these important markets," Mr Harrington said.

Commenting on the firm's win, partner and Head of MinterEllison's China Markets practice, Adam Handley, said: "We are delighted to receive the Professional Services award, particularly against significant and high profile competition. We deeply appreciate the support and trust that our China markets clients have placed in us and congratulate our team, which is now one of the largest China-Australia professional services team in the market."

Accepting the award in Beijing alongside Adam Handley were Beijing partner Bi Chen, Shanghai Chief Representative Yi Yi Wu and Shanghai Partner Chris Carr.

This year, a record number of 148 companies entered AustCham Westpac Australia-China Business Awards, with 37 companies are selected as finalists for outstanding and distinctive services within eight categories.
